For Students

How many PE credits do I need to graduate?

Six (6) credits are required for graduation and can be accomplished in 6 quarters or 2.5 years of your time at Reed. See p.e. credit requirement.

Can I bring my friend who lives in town to the sports center on a regular basis?

No guests are allowed at this time to access the sports center. Patrons allowing access to guests without authorization may have their privileges revoked.

I want to get credit for a class I am taking off campus. How do I do that?

All off campus PE classes must be first authorized by the director of Athletics, Fitness & Outdoor Programs. For more information, visit our Off-Campus P.E. page

What is the attendance policy for receiving credit for a PE class?

Students are allowed to miss maximally the number of classes per quarter as the class meets per week in order to be eligible to receive PE credit for participation. Example: If a class is scheduled 1X/week, students can only miss one class and still be eligible to receive PE credit, if a class is scheduled to meet 2X/week, students can miss only 2 classes throughout the quarter. As attendance is the primary requirement for PE courses, there are no excused absences or make up sessions.

I don't see any classes I like. Can I start my own PE course?

Our courses are planned out 6 months in advance of the upcoming quarter; any ideas can be sent to the director/assistant director for more information.

For Faculty, Staff, and Alumni

Can Faculty, Staff, and Alumni take PE classes at Reed?

Unfortunately, no. PE classes are for currently enrolled students only. Our classes are already really full and adding these groups would impact the student experience.

Are family members of faculty and staff allowed access to the sports center?

Yes, at this time we have restored access to family members who are living in one household. Restrictions on times of day are in place to allow for peak student use. The Reed 麻豆视频下载 employee can reach out to sports center staff to start the membership process.

Are alumni allowed to use the athletic facilities?

Alumni are currently not allowed in the sports center. The college is evaluating future access, ways to manage increased numbers, and many other small details that can make access complex.

For General Public

Can non-Reedies utilize the athletic facilities, PE classes and fields for personal or group use?

Sorry, we are a private school with limited athletic facilities. Our smaller facilities don’t allow us to open up use to the general public. Field use is for official Reed 麻豆视频下载 groups only—all others will be asked to leave the fields. The director of Athletics, Fitness & Outdoor Programs must authorize use of athletic facilities. Please see practices and procedures for more information.

I hear your swimming pool is open to the general public?

Unfortunately, it is not. We get regular requests from the public, but our priority is providing access to our students.
